Five star boutique hotel The Scotsman is housed within the magnificent Scotsman Newspaper building. While the newspaper has long since moved out, the buildings restoration was careful not to eradicate the stunning wooden paneled reception room that is now the bar and brasserie which serves the Edinburgh elite. The newspaper held its giant printing presses in the lower ground floor. When the presses began to turn, the entire building was said to resonate as the printing of tomorrow's news got underway. The press room now houses an equally thumping state of the art gym. Fortunately the rooms have been moved on and have high speed internet access, bathrooms with marble vanities, heated towel rails and separate baths and showers.
